Crater Fragments
The aa from North Crater flowed north; the
pahoehoe flowed east. A few seconds or
maybe a few years separated them.
The first flow broke the west wall of the
crater - perhaps the weight of the lava,
perhaps earthquakes. Many craters lose
walls that way.
The crater didn't explode. The wall fragments
just fell into the lava which floated
two of them here.
Which came first? Aa or pahoehoe?
